In recent months, the Post-Growth Innovation Lab has secured three new research and innovation projects that reinforce its commitment to sustainability, territorial development, and the connection between scientific knowledge and society. These initiatives will enable the group to expand its research and social impact, strengthen its collaboration networks, and enhance the transfer of results.
Plataforma ODS: AnOpen Science Platform for Local Development of the SDGs
Plataforma ODS was created to develop a comprehensive tool for the analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals at local and regional levels. The project combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. By creating an interactive digital platform, it will promote transparency, citizen participation, and the improvement of public policies aligned with the 2030 Agenda.
PESCRAP: Roadmap for a national SCRAP system for fishing gear management
The PESCRAP project, coordinated by the Circular Economy Foundation with the participation of the University of Vigo, the Zero Waste Association and AIMPLAST, aims to establish the foundations for creating a Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System (SCRAP) specifically for fishing nets and gear at the end of their useful life. By designing a structured roadmap, implementing pilot actions and conducting technical studies, the project seeks to develop a sustainable and replicable management model in accordance with circular economy principles.
The initiative aims to propose innovative models that enhance the resilience of coastal communities, encourage responsible practices and circular economy strategies, reduce environmental impact, and improve the sector’s value chain.
ConCiencia Local: Municipal Scientific Advice as an Approach to Public Innovation - I+P
Conciencia Local was created with the aim of integrating science into policy, or S4P (Science for Public Policy), within local entities, thereby contributing to the improvement of public policies. A working group will be established in the form of a Municipal Scientific Advisory Committee (CACiM) in the Pontevedra City Council, comprising researchers from the University of Vigo and municipal administration staff. The main objective is to promote the creation of spaces for knowledge exchange and the use of scientific evidence in public decision-making and the implementation of municipal policies, through a pilot experience focused on a specific initiative or issue of interest to the local administration. The project will also facilitate the development of an implementation guide detailing the methodology used, so that it can be replicated to address other needs within the municipality of Pontevedra, or so that any other municipality in Galicia or Spain can launch a similar project. The initiative will be monitored throughout the duration of the project, and all information and data produced will be recorded to enable a research study on this type of public innovation strategy.
The project thus promotes spaces for dialogue between researchers, public administration, and social actors, contributing to more participatory, informed, and common good-oriented governance.
