Last January, MedWaves hosted a collaborative roundtable on "1.5°C Lifestyles, Sufficiency and Just Transition in the Mediterranean", exploring the production-consumption-climate nexus, challenged the limits of territorial and energy-based emissions accounting, and discussed how consumption-based and sufficiency-oriented approaches can better inform local climate action.
Building on that exchange and bringing some of these ideas to life, our new video brings together leading experts working at the intersection of climate change and sustainable consumption and production, with a focus on green and circular economy business models and just transition approaches in the Mediterranean region.
This conversation explores how SCP can drive climate change mitigation -not only through technical solutions, but by reshaping lifestyles, production systems, policies, and behaviours. The discussion also dives into the social and ecological dimensions of the transition towards a climate-neutral circular economy, highlighting the need for fairness, equity, and inclusive outcomes.
