Minna Katariina Käyrä

Visiting researcher (April-December 2024)

Minna is a PhD student in the Environmental Management research group at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Her research focuses on studying the sustainability challenges of long-distance travelling in Finland. She pays special attention to the incremental and radical change proposals that are presented in response to the urgent need to reduce the environmental load of the sector. Moreover, she investigates how the demand for transportation services is created and formulated within Finnish society. She holds a Master's degree in Environmental Management from the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics.

Previously, she worked as a sustainability professional in the public and private sector where she designed and coordinated various sustainability studies. For instance, sustainability study of partners and suppliers, staff commuting initiative, all plastic recycles in the metropolitan area of Finland and formulation of sustainability strategies.

Her research interests include transportation, postgrowth, social practice theory, sustainability transition and alternative futures
