SERIGO - Enhancing Resilience, Social Inclusion, and Well-being in rural areas through Social Innovation

European rural areas face societal, demographic, economic and environmental challenges due to global transformations and crises. Uneven development affects people’s livelihoods and overall well-being, hitting individuals in vulnerable situations the hardest.

SERIGO aims to enhance resilience, social inclusion, and well-being of vulnerable groups in European rural areas through socially innovative solutions initiated by or involving actors from the social economy. The project is:

  • Conducting community-based participatory research through case studies from across Europe and pilots testing in five EU Member States.
  • Fostering debates and collaboration on the topic among diverse stakeholders in Europe.
  • Providing policymakers with recommendations for policy development around social inclusion in rural areas.

With a focused approach to addressing the challenges faced by rural communities, SERIGO is committed to harnessing the capabilities of social economy actors to drive inclusive development initiatives and support vulnerable groups in rural areas.
